Netistix Delivers Cellular and Satellite Communication Options
FleetPulse™ Telematics with Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL)
Ottawa, ON., May 1, 2007 - Netistix announces the availability of highly flexible Cellular and Satellite communication capabilities, making FleetPulse™ the most adaptive end-to-end telematics connectivity solution in the market. The addition of cellular and/or satellite communication options, along with our commitment to WiFi networking, enables Fleet Managers to select the communication method that best suits their fleet management requirements. "Always-on" Cellular and Satellite communication options coincide with the commercial availability of FleetPulseTM Active Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and Hours of Service (HoS) Compliancy applications that provide local, national and global coverage.
With our unique design, FleetPulse™ offers dedicated cellular communications or the ability to connect to an existing in-vehicle cellular data device (Cell Phone, PDA or Laptop) via a serial data cable or Bluetooth wireless. The ability to utilize the data communications capabilities of a pre-existing cellular data device is an economically attractive solution, avoiding service duplication, since most fleet vehicles or drivers already have in-cab computers, PDAs or company cell phones. FleetPulse™ customers can then select their preferred wireless network carrier and high-speed or standard network performance based on their telematics requirements.
FleetPulseTM "Least Cost Routing" will transmit telematics data over the lowest cost network available. As an example, if a vehicle is within range of a FleetPulse™ enabled "Hot-Spot", WiFi communications will be used. When the vehicle leaves the Hot-Spot, cellular communications will be used and when cellular communications are not available, the vehicle will transmit critical data over Satellite.
Fleet Operators may mix and match networking choices and define networking route priorities as required, utilizing;
- Customer owned WiFi Hot-Spots – no monthly costs, ideal for fleets that regularly return to a depot and do not require real-time GPS or dispatch functions.
- Metropolitan WiFi Networks – low monthly costs and provide coverage similar to cellular networks within a metropolitan area – supports active AVL
- Dedicated cellular – dedicated FleetPulse™ Cellular Data Modem for connection to the cellular carrier of choice (GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE or CMDA/ 1xRTT/ EVDO)
- Shared cellular – utilizes existing in-vehicle cellular data device (laptops, PDAs or cell phones) enables cellular data communications without incurring additional charges for a dedicated telematics service connection
- Satellite – for fleets that require constant communications with vehicles/drivers outside cellular coverage zones.
