FleetPulse™ Newsletter: Rick, your company’s roots go back to 1993. How have you seen the fleet market for wireless solutions change since then?

Rick Stafford: The major shift we’ve seen has been the growing commercial, mainstream recognition that there is rapid return-on-investment to be gained from reasonably priced, integrated wireless solutions. At the same time, there is a proliferation of new market entrants who have over-promised and under-delivered.

FPN: How does a company like yours choose the solutions it will offer to customers, considering that risk?

RS: We’ve been at this a long time, so can distinguish a ready-for-market solution from marketing hype. We also look for fully integrated solutions where the business application, hardware and airtime are all best-of-breed.

FPN: So, what is in your product and service portfolio today?

RS: With the exception of one international manufacturer, all of our products are fully integrated wireless solutions. They range from vehicle monitoring to personal tracking and asset security tracking.

FPN: You’ve added Netistix™ FleetPulse™, a wireless fleet monitoring solution, to your product catalog. Why did you choose this product?

RS: FleetPulse™ is an integrated wireless security and asset management solution, and it’s market ready – so we consider it a very good fit in our overall portfolio.

FPN: When do you recommend FleetPulse™?

RS: We recommend FleetPulse™ for fleet managers who do not need continuous real-time information (i.e. not cellular-based), but who do need information upon which they can make strong fleet management decisions about security, service and efficiency. It is also a justifiable stand-alone solution that gives customers the option to add a real-time (cellular-based) component in the future.

FPN: What do you like best about FleetPulse?

RS: It offers better value for the money than equivalent real-time systems, both in up-front capital costs as well as ongoing operational expenses. The quantity and quality of the information that FleetPulse makes accessible through reports, charts and records is also excellent. And, it provides customizable applications that are secure and reliable. Frankly, I can’t imagine why any fleet manager would not want to use FleetPulse™.
